ARTIST - EDWARD W. GILMORE
Artist Edward W. Gilmore was born on April 20, 1966, in Oakland, California. Edward lived in Alameda, California, from 1966 to 1986. Alameda is an island south of Oakland, where Edward attended Alameda High School and graduated in 1984.
After graduating, Edward became a house painter in 1984, working in the trade for the next 30 years.
In 1989, Edward moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with his wife. There, he started a new house painting business, which grew to become the largest house painting company in North Idaho.
In the fall of 2004, Edward discovered canvas painting for the first time. Inspired by his memory of watching the movie Pollock, a creative fire was ignited. Twenty-one years later, that same fire still burns, as Edward is now a full-time abstract expressionist artist.
Edward sold his very first painting in 2005, and since then has sold over two thousand original works worldwide. With more than a hundred solo shows, both public and private, his artwork proudly hangs in hundreds of homes and businesses throughout the United States, Canada, South America, and Japan.
Edward has a studio in the Idaho Panhandle and displays his artwork in spaces throughout the Inland Northwest, including notable locations such as the Grand Davenport Hotel in Spokane, Hay J’s Restaurant in Liberty Lake, Banner Bank in Liberty Lake, and Urbanna Day Spa in Spokane. You will find over 100 of his artwork pieces on display at these beautiful locations.
Edward is actively planning many upcoming shows in 2026 and beyond. His focus is now fully centered on the passion for creating works that inspire collectors to acquire the bold and beautiful pieces he creates.
The year 2026 will mark the very first time that limited-edition prints of some of Edward’s best works will be made available. Edward often says that your true passion in life can always be found, but sometimes it simply sneaks up on you, just as art did for him. He believes that his house painting business was the first canvas of his life, and since then, creating art on canvas has become his life’s true passion.
Edward encourages everyone to enjoy the Four E’s of Edward’s artwork: Energy, Excitement, Emotion, and Edward.
